The advanced design of the Stillink 3200 incorporates state-of-the-art Industrial CPU and Digital Signal Processors that are capable of executing hundreds of millions of instructions a second. Highly efficient use of the system`s processing power, with the help of intelligent algorithms, leaves very little, if any, possibility that an overload condition will arise. In the operation of the Stillink 3200, there is a sufficient margin for overload situations. Improved speed, security, and reliability are guaranteed by the placement of the generic programs and operating parameters in non-volatile semiconductor memory elements. The Stillink 3200 incorporates processing units that take full advantage of the massive amount of computing power that is now available, along with the myriad of software development tools.

The Stillink 3200 is a Stored-Program-Controlled (SPC) system. Its leading-edge operational software, Xymphony, has been developed by Telesis A.S. specifically for this system. With many programmable features, Xymphony makes the traffic management highly efficient and versatile. The convenience of dealing with all-in-one standard software allows the user to support as many features as desired, up to the maximum capacity: thus, the capacity can grow without necessarily updating the software. Xymphony within the Stillink 3200 is well structured and is developed by a high level language of C. Xymphony also provides:

  • easy expansion and modification when introducing new services and technologies, to guarantee high reliability,
  • introduction procedures for new software parts or repairs with minimum service interruptions.

The volume and structure of database in the software package is standardized for the maximum system size. Xymphony software provides strategies to prevent the occurrence of programming errors to escalate to a total break down and to present sufficient information for quick solving of the errors. The Stillink 3200 verifies the integrity of its software at regular basis

The switching circuits consist of a 2048x2048 channel digital switching matrix. Each channel capacity is 64 Kbps (8 bits). Thus, non-blocked TDM and IP call switching are accomplished at the same time. The digital switching matrix is capable of setting up and maintaining paths from any channel out of 16 incoming 8 Mbps (with a frame width of 125 msec) links to any channel among the 16 outgoing 8 Mbps links on the transmit side. Half of these links is reserved for TDM to TDM call routing, whereas the remained half is reserved for VoIP access. Consequently, the Stillink 3200 has an architecture for NGN (next generation networks) migration with its integrated packet and circuit switching technology.

The Stillink 3200 is capable of handling call traffic with over 345,000 BHCA without any loss in the quality of service.

The Stillink 3200 is capable of inter-working between all its TDM and IP signaling/protocol schemes. Each variant of incoming and outgoing lines associated with a signaling system generates and receives forward and backward inter-working telephony events according to on-line, real-time procedures specified for each signaling system in the relevant standards and recommendations.

In order to facilitate expansions of the system in future, the Stillink 3200 is built on a modular principle. The Stillink 3200 capacity is sufficient or easily expandable to ensure the availability of capacity needed for future new functions or services to be introduced in the system. The capacity depends on the demands and the place of the system in the network. Particular values are defined for each system. The Stillink 3200 allows, in an economic way, the realization of a system in the capacity range of 30,000 users and 32 E1 interfaces.
