PX24X_Hardware_Installation_-_Slot_Maps

Numbering Slots for Interface Cards in a PX24X System

See the diagram below.

Reserved Slots

Leave the Slot-14 and Slot-15 always EMPTY. NEVER install any cards into these two slots.

If There are some E1 Interfaces in Your System

If your system has a DFF card with expanding hardware up to 4-rack capacity, and

  • if E1 default access code 500xx exists leave Slots-30, -31,
  • if E1 default access code 501xx exists leave Slots-32, -33,
  • if E1 default access code 502xx exists leave Slots-34, -35,
  • if E1 default access code 503xx exists leave Slots-36, -37 EMPTY.

Systems with 4 E1 interfaces RACK-3 should not be installed as no available general purpose slots left in the rack.

If You Would Like to Install a BRI-ISDN S0/T0 Card into Your System

  • A DDL card with 4 interfaces can be installed into the Slot-07 only.
  • Do not install the DDL card into another slot. Your system can have only one DDL card (each with 4 interfaces).
  • If a DDL board is installed, be sure that jumper settings on the board are matching to the software settings.
  • Any channel on DDL board can either be set as S0 or T0.

However, be aware that the Slot-7 is not a reserved one. Other interface cards can also be installed to this slot if it is free. If You Would Like to Install Digital Subscriber Line Cards into Your System

DDS digital subscriber line cards (with 15 4B+D ISDN digital subscriber interfaces) can be installed into free slots in the RACK-0 but into Slots-04, -05, and -07. Do not install DDS boards into Slots-02, -03, and -06. The maximum number of DDS cards can be three in the same system. Be aware that these slots are not reserved slots. Other interface cards can also be installed to these if they are free.

Important:

Due to power requirements;

  • In a PX24X system with a single rack configuration, maximum one DDS digital subscriber line card can be installed,
  • In a PX24X system with a two rack configuration, maximum two DDS digital subscriber line card can be installed,
  • In a PX24X system with a three rack configuration, maximum three DDS digital subscriber line card can be installed.

Any Other Interface Cards

You can install any other interface cards such as:

  • DASF analog subscriber (or FXS) card with 16 subscribers, or
  • DATF or DATG analog trunk (or FXO) card with 8 trunks, or
  • DAH hybrid analog subscriber (8 FXS interfaces) and analog trunk (4 FXO interfaces) card, or
  • DEM E&M signaling trunk card with 4 interfaces

into any free slots in your system.
